Obituary for Kenneth Eugene Stewart

Kenneth Stewart, age 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in Elkhart, Indiana. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 27, 1931 to Harold Clayton and Beatrice Etolia (Baker) Stewart. Ken was a graduate of Norwood High School and attended Salmon P. Chase College. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou (Archer), daughter, Sabrina Stewart Hancock (Gary), and granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Hancock, both of Dallas, Texas. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and brother, George Albert Stewart. He is survived by brothers Harold Clayton Jr of Cincinnati, Ralph David (San Antonio, Texas), James Henry (Gonzales, Texas), Howard Earl (Franklin, Kentucky), Clyde Ernest, also of Cincinnati, many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

A strong Christian man and devoted husband and father, Ken enjoyed woodcarving and oil painting, played table tennis, golf, softball, studying the Bible, and visiting with friends and relatives. He never met a stranger. Kenneth was a veteran of the Korean War, returning home August 25, 1954. He grew up in Norwood, Ohio and after high school worked for the Coca Cola Bottling Company and Littleford Brothers Company. He and Mary Lou married and moved to Hamilton, Ohio in May of 1955. Kenneth later worked for the Hamilton Foundry and later Reese Products. He retired from Reese in 1990. Kenneth and Mary Lou joined McCoy Memorial Church, in Elkhart, in 1969.

People who own any of his woodcarvings or oil paintings will have a special way to remember him. He always joked that his art work would be worth lots of money once he passed away! Kenneth was cherished and will be deeply missed by everyone. He will be buried in the Archer family plot at the Broyles Cemetery in Rockholds at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 10, 2018. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #88 of Corbin.

Please no flowers or plants. Memorial donations may be made to the McCoy Memorial Baptist Church in Elkhart, Indiana.
